Under Pink Skies

So music heavily influences my mood while i’m crafting and creating. I was listening to “Under Pink Skies” by LANY while I was crafting one night and decided I wanted to make a drink that looked like the hue of a rich pink sky at sunset. More than that, I wanted the drink to have a calm, elegant grace about it that fit that thought. This amazing drink is what came about from that.

I wanted to start with a soft elegant base, so I picked a nice middle of the road gin. from there I thought about what could give me that pink color. Obviously cherry syrup came to mind but I didn’t want it to be cloyingly sweet. So in addition to a cherry syrup, I did a dash of cherry bitters.

I added ruby red grapefruit to keep the pink hue while also keeping the sweetness in check. To enhance the grapefruit flavor without allowing it to get too bitter, I used Giffard’s Pamplemousse Liqueur.

Next, I added Peach Liqueur and peach bitters to get a nice peach presence in the drink without allowing the sugar to run rampant.

Finally, the drink needed a tiny bit of a floral element to bring it all together. For this, I used a tiny amount of Rose Water. Top with a splash of soda water for a light and airy touch of CO2 and this drink is the perfect early to mid-summer sipper
