Spring St. Cocktail

The Spring St. Cocktail came about as the result of a challenge. When I first started at The Cork & Keg, the manager at the time wanted to see what my creative skills were like in a minimalist environment. I was handed a bottle of pear liqueur he wanted to get rid of and a bottle of orgeat that he had no idea how to use.

He asked me to create something to get rid of both of them. The result was a cocktail of vodka, pear, almond, lemon, and soda that became a staple on our house menu and would stick around for years to come.

Spring St. Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Vodka

  • .5 oz Merlet Crème de Poire William (pear liqueur)

  • .5 oz Orgeat Syrup

  • .5 oz Lemon Juice

  • 1 oz soda water to top

  • lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except for the soda into a cocktail shaker with ice

  2. Shake vigorously for 10 - 15 seconds

  3. Double strain into a short martini glass.

  4. Top with soda

  5. Express lemon peel over the drink, rub the peel along the rim of the glass, then drop into the drink

  6. Enjoy!
