Apple Crisp Old Fashioned

Fall, Christmas, it really doesn’t matter. This drink is fantastic for the cooler months of the year.

I took inspiration from the apple crisp macchiato from Starbucks for this one. Simply put, I made a syrup to taste like apple pie filling to replace the demerara that I would use normally.

To pull this off, I had to break down what flavor goes in to apple pie filling. I combined fresh pressed apple juice or cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, lemon juice, and vanilla to achieve that apple crisp flavor. Then, I add it to bourbon, amaretto, and bitters to create an absolutely amazing cool weather sipper cocktail.
