Road to Hell

I don’t remember what we call this drink

So I just picked a song name from Hadestown that I thought seemed to fit. This is a dark and robust cocktail, so road to hell seemed to fit.

This drink is bourbon forward with a light syrup of blackberry, raspberry. Rounded out and given spice by the angostura, we top this with ginger ale


Cocktail Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • 1 oz light blackberry and raspberry syrup

  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

  • top ginger ale

Syrup Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • .5 cup sugar

  • .25 cup blackberries

  • .25 cup raspberries

  • 1 tsp lemon juice


Syrup Instructions

  1. In a small to medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil.

  2. Add berries and return to a boil.

  3. Remove from the heat and add lemon juice. Allow to completely cool

  4. Strain into a container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Cocktail Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients, except for the ginger ale, in a stirring tin.

  2. Fill halfway with ice. Stir for 30-40 revolutions.

  3. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. top with ginger ale and garnish with a picked blackberry.
