Southern Girl
So at the beginning of 2022 I was officially tasked with creating signature drinks for the Broadway performances at Walton Arts Center (WAC) and the concerts at Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion (WAMP). This drink is what I created for Tim McGraw’s show when he launched his 2022 tour from our facility.
When I do these themed drinks, I do a decent amount of research into the artist/productions and their songs. Tim, though he no longer drinks, was a huge whiskey guy. So, I decided to make a whiskey cocktail that embodied his song “Southern Girl”.
Southern Girl is a semi-sweet, tangy, summer sipper made with peach-pecan whiskey, cold steeped tea, a mango and honey syrup, and a splash of lemon juice. I opted to cold steep the tea as it tends to make for a less bitter brew. I wanted the roastiness and tannins from the black tea to play with the nutty finish of the pecan whiskey, but didn’t want to have to add too much sugar to kill the bitter bite. The drink was a hit and we sold a ton of them.
